Took this picture of
Kelly whizzing through the country lanes of Galway. You'll
notice there's a wee bit of a sheen off the road but
there's also a hell of a shadow. It did rain that
morning and as you can see from Kelly's back there the
roads were a wee bit mucky too. She's still wearing
the Doc. Martens... |

I always like shooting
this house as the colours are just magnificent. The house
is an old country Manor nestled in some truly beautiful
formal gardens on a tiny, tiny road on our Renvyle -
Cong route. That's Gwen in
the picture. Send her a wee email and ask her about her
travels with Celtic Trails

Here's Lorna again.
This time she's posing just outside Leenane, (Leenane's
the village where the movie, 'The Filed' was filmed.
Check out our 'movies to watch' on the site here and
read about this movie). Behind Lorna is Killary Harbour.
Wee story about Killary - Back when England controlled
the oceans the whole British Atlantic fleet was moored
here, (that's a lot of ships) because Killary is the
only fjord on the west coast of Ireland or England. And
they needed this deep water to moor the ships. Now it's
full of lobster pots, which I have to say, we much prefer
to British battle ships

Watch out for that
sheep Karen
.
Taken on the road to Cong, Clare/Galway western tour
last June. We were cycling along here on this glorious
day and when I say we saw more sheep than people this
day I'm not kidding. We've just left Renvyle and are
heading to Cong. Cong, by the way is the village where
The Quiet Man with John Wayne was filmed, (reviewed in
this site). And we stay in the hotel where he had many
a session on the Guinness - Ryan's. |

This is another bunch
of South African cyclists enjoying one of our now famous
lunch spots. Taken in April 2002 just before Toombeaola,
Connemara. Our lunch spot on this day is right beside
the lake and is one of our favourites. Our guests must
like to too because we often get emails from them complimenting
us on this very one, (which is nice). |
 |

A nice picture of
one of our resting points on the Donegal tour - Castle
Grove Country Manor. Built over 300 years ago and now
run by Mary O'Sullivan it is truly a delightful place
to stay. Look forward to dinner

Lunch, Ballyvaughan,
July 2002. Our spot here serves one of the nicest chowders
in the land. And that's not a word of a lie! Monk's,
just outside the village. Behind the gang here is the
very corner of Galway Bay and after lunch we head down
a road to Lisdoonvarna that the very well respected travel
magazine, 'Conde Naste' voted one of the top ten most
beautiful roads in the world! Not a bad compliment
..
Ask Lorna about it, another biker who's been with us
three times. |
 |

Now here we have another
common Celtic Trails scene - A bunch of trouble makers,
loitering around a particularly spectacular place, chatting,
telling stories about God knows what, drinking Guinness
and just generally causing a rumpus. Renvyle, May '98.
Ask Keith what
his impression of Renvyle was
. |

One of our favourite
places to stop for a coffee is this one, way way out
west. Here we have Ann, walking back up to her
bike after checking out just how 'nippy' the Atlantic
ocean is. |

Okay, who has the biggest
smile? Eddy, or one of the six gorgeous girls from
Minnesotta who, it looks like, can't get enough of him. Enough
